Wanted comes in second to WALL-E in weekend box office

Wanted earned $51.1 million for the weekend, but it was not enough to get first place. Wall-E debuted with $62.5 million. However, Wanted was the third-highest opening for an R-rated action film ever behind The Matrix Reloaded ($91.7 million) & 300 ($70.9 million).

"Wanted, a $74 million comic book adaptation directed by Kazakhstan-born filmmaker Timur Bekmambetov, stars Scottish actor James McAvoy (The Last King of Scotland) as an office drone recruited to an elite order of assassins by Jolie and Morgan Freeman. Wanted is a fast-paced, crackling thrill ride."

WALL-E became Pixar's third-best opener (tied with Monsters Inc.). Did you know...all of Pixar's movies have debuted at #1. It all started with Toy Story. It is pretty amazing that all of Pixar's movies have debuted at #1.

"WALL-E is a space adventure mixed with an unusual love story with somber messages about the future of Earth and humankind."
"
After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL•E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that WALL•E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet’s future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). Meanwhile, WALLE chases EVE across the galaxy and sets into motion one of the most exciting and imaginative comedy adventures ever brought to the big screen."

Also, as of writing this, WALL-E has a 9.3 rating on imdb.com and a 97% Tomatometer (positive reviews). This makes me want to go see it now...much like how I got drawn into Iron Man (which was good by the way).

Looking back now, I find it pretty funny how WALL-E was my friend's backup plan if Wanted was sold out. They ended up watching Get Smart because both WALL-E and Wanted were sold out. LOL so much for a backup plan.

Anyways, here are the Top Ten weekend box office numbers for June 27-June 29, 2008:

Futball/Football/Soccer whatever you wanna call it, Euro 2008 Germany vs. Spain

I was watching CNN talk about the Euro 2008 game with Germany vs. Spain and just wondered why we call it soccer and the NFL football. This has probably been discussed and debated somewhere plenty of times.

With my limited historic knowledge and experience with how these came about, wouldn't it just be easier to call the NFL football soccer and have futball be football? Seriously, American football doesn't even describe what football is. They don't use their FOOT to play the game. It's closer to rugby probably. I mean, I know why it's called baseball. The player touch the "bases." In volleyball, you volley the ball up. In basketball, you shoot the ball into a basket. And for golf, I don't actually know why it's called golf lol. Now, what is soccer? See if we just had futball be football we wouldn't need to have the word American football. All we need would be the word soccer instead of (American) football to replace it. haha.

It's not like it will change, but I was just pondering this. NFL is pretty big in the United States and is pretty much football. It'll be hard to call it something else now. But, pretty much everyone knows which football is which by the context when we do talk about it. So we (humans) are smart like that being able to figure it out. haha ok.

All-American Rejects will release their new album on September 15th.

The Academy Is first single from their new album, Fast Times At Barrington High, will be "About A Girl." Barrington High is the high school Here is William Beckett and Adam Siska went to. The album title is most likely taken from the 1982 coming-of-age teen-comedy movie, Fast Times at Ridgemont High.
Also, here is the cover art for the first single:

Yay I like both these bands. I hope both their new stuff is good.

Some other albums I'm also looking forward to:
7/08/2008
Hit The Lights - Skip School, Start Fights
7/22/2008
The Classic Crime - Silvercord
09/30/2008
Anberlin - New Surrender

I really hope The Classic Crime & Anberlin are good. They're both on my list of favorite bands.

Wanted Movie with Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy, & Morgan Freeman

I watched Wanted on friday at 10pm. We were going to go a 7:45pm showing, but ended up being late because of slow-ass waiters from I-Hop.
I did not expect too much going into this movie. I thought, ok the movie could be good because Morgan Freeman & James McAvoy are in it and they make good movies. But, Angelina Jolie doesn't always make consistenly good movies (I'm thinking of Troy...bad...). I liked her in Hackers, Girl, Interrupted, & Mr. & Mrs. Smith. Well, I guess she's in pretty good ones...she's just done some bad ones that stay in my brain though. Besides the quality of movies, my friends and I were watching it because of Angelina Jolie & James McAvoy. More for Angelina Jolie than James McAvoy if you wanna know. lol. Though, James McAvoy had that one shirtless scene...
Anyways, I really liked the movie. It entertained 'til the end without a slow moment. Going into the movie, I knew it was most likely just an action movie, which it was. It was made kinda differently than the typical movie though. I mean right from the start of the movie it had some dry comedy and unrealistic bullet shooting. Plus, one of the assassination's jumped out of a building into the building across while simultaneously taking out several other men (sorta of like a Shoot 'Em Up type movie). I pretty much knew not to take our reality into the movie and ask how can that possibly happen?
To sum it up, I liked it, but my friends didn't seem as into it. I also browsed the imdb forum and there seemed to be plenty of people who just didn't like it. So it seems like one of those movies where you either like it or don't like it.
